One of the many crises facing the world today is poverty. There are a lot of things that affect the less unfortunate directly like disease and malnutrition. We do not really consider these problems as too important because we have ample resources, however, the smallest of our problems can be the biggest for the ones living in poverty. Poverty is someone not having the sufficient amount of material to sustain a successful lifestyle. This would be not possessing enough food, water, or money to provide oneself with healthcare whilst struggling to afford living space. Many people around the world are living in this situation right now and have no way to get out. In some countries it is common to live on a such a low level of financial security while here in the united states it is something that is quite uncommon.
Some people may not see poverty as such a challenge because we do not see it with our own eyes on the scale that other countries see daily.Statistics have shown that almost 20,000 children die a day from poverty around the world. That statistic may be surprising to some because it such a large number and you do not often see poverty as such a large problem. The fact is that poverty is a major problem that affects more than a billion people that  live in extreme poverty. The reason that the death toll is so high is because most situations of poverty clean food and water is a luxury cause people to get sick making them lose even more of the nutrients sometimes causing people to die.If children are able to survive this life style their lives are often severely shortened from sever stunt growth leading to long term health issues that often plague the poor in the affected countries. Some people may find it hard to believe but almost half the world lives without our common electrical utilities that help us survive which adds to the deaths of those that are hungry. Hunger cause more deaths than anything else in the world and we need to find a way to help and make it end.

Gun Violence (Country Wide)

Ingraham, Christopher. “Analysis | Trump Promised to End the ‘American Carnage.’ Gun Deaths Are up 12 Percent.” The Washington Post, WP Company, 27 July 2017, www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2017/07/27/trump-promised-to-end-the-american-carnage-gun-deaths-are-up-12-percent/. Accessed 27 July 2017.

The United states has been at the head of the gun violence for a long time because weapons are so prevalent in our culture. The united states has been one of the countries with the most weapon violence out of the first world countries. There has been concern as to the solution to our countries problem and our problems are just becoming more and more severe. The rise in gun violence in america is not new it happens year after year the rate rises more and more families are torn apart by death. Since 2014 firearm injuries are up fifty percent while child shootings are up thirty percent.Gun deaths in the first two hundred days of the year have been raising steadily from year to year. In 2016 there were 7,608 deaths in 2017 there were 8,539 a huge jump in lives taken by firearms in such a short amount of time.In the past months it has been the highest in has been in years for all areas of weapon violence. Injuries of children general firearm injuries and defensive gun use have all risen steadily and at alarming rates.
The government has commented on the severity of the issue from the president to the department of justice stating that it is a priority for the government to face and a concern being dealt with. The department of justice has created a specific task force to help deal with the situation trying to find a way to solve our problems with gun violence. While they haven't come up with concrete solutions that everyone has agreed upon most people have their own ideas on how to solve the gun violence dilemma. Some believe a more strict and longer minimum sentence for crimes with deadly weapon use while other groups believe there should be more regulation and less weapon distribution. While most of these are violent crimes some are accidental or suicidal and others believe that safety could be a major factor and believe in more safety and training courses required for gun ownership. There is no right answer and we need to find our own ways to solve the problems that we have been faced with it may be a combination of all the ideas given that would secure a safer america but only time and legislation will tell.

“School lunch shaming:Inside america's debt crisis”(School)

Long, Heather. "School Lunch Shaming: Inside America's Hidden Debt Crisis." CNNMoney. Cable News Network, 10 May 2017. Web. 30 June 2017.

Student lunches affect almost everyone going to our school even if people don't eat them they see them every day in the cafeteria.Big Spring has a high percentage of students below the poverty line and that allows them to receive free or reduced lunch rates. The students that receive free or reduced lunches may be having the only food they will be eating all day and that is cause for alarm in our community. While the lunches may be enough for some students they may not come close to enough for others leading to health risks. The lunches given have been planned out on a certain budget and schools cannot make exceptions for large portions of the school that may be getting breakfast and lunch in our schools as their only meals.
The problem with purchasing such a large quantity of food for so many students in america is the price which has been the main concern for people fighting against the expansion of school lunch programs.students have been digging a hole for themselves in debt for years with near 76% of schools in america have students with lunch debt. The debt of these student causes more concern as they are trying to pay for free lunches of these students but also having to deny others that are too far in debt.In big spring there are times when if your debt is too large or at the end of the year they will not let you buy food for lunch making the children that could be having their only meal at school go hungry. While others schools will often give children that are in debt a separate lesser lunch than what everyone else is having our school will just deny children food letting them go hungry.

There needs to be big change in the system we have for students food the prices are too high for students that need more than the average and for students that can't pay at all the system doesn't always work.Someone needs to take a fresh look at the system and see what could be changed possibly the suppliers of the product or the system for cooking and cleaning to save money and give back to the students because the prices for the food children are eating is outrageous and needs to change.

Blog Post 1.
“Racism within communities”(Community)

Morrisey MLIS, Beth. "Fighting Racism in the Community."http://www.aboutequalopportunities.co.uk/fighting-racism-community.html. About Equal Opportunities, 24 Apr. 2015. Accessed 29 June 2017.

Most of the people within our community have seen racism first hand and on many occasions either large or small the acts done by some can reflect largely on our community as a whole.Racism from many different people's perspective can be different acts what one person may believe to be racist others may not and everything mainly is decided by what type of family or community you were raised with as the deciding factor.Defining racism for your community is the first step in solving most problems with race as the basis if you have standard set for what is perceived to be racist then everyone will have a better understanding of what is acceptable in most cases racism in all forms being completely condemned. As in most cases it is with our own while some groups are still fighting against it it has become more accepted in our society to accept others than to hate each other.
Racism within a community can cause a divide amongst groups especially when each group has no repercussions for such acts.In a community as small as ours with as little diversity as we have it becomes an even more apparent problem With no rules or laws in place to promote equality amongst the community members there can be major problems. With promotion of equality we can learn to accept the differences amongst ourselves deepening our communities relationship and strengthening each other and our bond. While some differences might make us weaker others make us stronger and our differences are what make equality us important.

Dealing with racist acts is one of the hardest parts of equality amongst different races.causing even more of a fracture between each group after having legal matters come into a situation.Groups may even decide to take matters into their own hands if something is not done or it does not seem to be enough.violence in our own community is not common but in many it is.all of these problems could be solved with education and mutual understanding amongst community members. The change we want to see in our own community starts with us in our very own school.
